Old Southern apple of Russian origin brought into this country in 1870. The Yellow Transparent has a skin that is clear yellow and the flesh that is white when ripe. It is the first apple of the season, ripening The end of July. The fruit is tart, juicy, and mildly acidic, making it a favorite for homemade applesauce and cooking.
The season for transparents however is short lasting only a few weeks.
