Originated in 1800 as a chance seedling by John McIntosh of Dundela,Ontario. Medium size; irregular round shape; green apple with red splash; white, juicy flesh; mildly tart, sweetness as it ripens. Excellent for eating fresh, baking pies, and sauces.
